Private clients

No Medicare rebate and no private health rebate, which means no diagnosis and no referral needed. You can simply begin.

What that actually means

Counselling here sits outside Medicare and outside the private health funds. That is a real cost, and I won't pretend otherwise. It also means something worth knowing.

You don't need a mental health care plan. You don't need a doctor to agree that this is hard enough to warrant help. You don't need a diagnosis, and nothing about this ends up on a Medicare record.

You decide that you want to be met, and we begin. That is the whole gate.

What it costs

Individual counselling

50 minutes · $170
or $220 for a longer 90 minute session

Family counselling

$170 per session

Telehealth is the same fee as in person. Payment is made at booking by credit or debit card, or by bank transfer.

Cost shouldn't be the thing that decides whether you get support. I keep a small number of concession places for private clients, so the fee doesn't become the barrier. Spots are limited and they do turn over, so it is always worth asking. It is a normal conversation to have, and it will not be awkward.

No rebates, and what that buys you

There is no Medicare rebate and no private health rebate on these sessions. The fee you see is the fee, with nothing to claim back afterwards.

What you get in return is a session that answers to you and to nobody else. No diagnosis on a file to justify it. No session limit set by a plan. We work for as long as it is useful, and we stop when you say so.

When you're ready

If you're ready, book a time that suits you. And if you'd rather begin with a conversation, send me an email and tell me a little about what's going on for you. You don't need to have the words sorted out before you write... that is part of what we do together. You'll hear back from me shortly.

This isn't a crisis service. If tonight is the hard part, Lifeline answers any hour on 13 11 14, and 13YARN is there on 13 92 76 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander callers. In an emergency, please call 000. You don't have to wait for an appointment to reach for support.
